Purchasing Tickets
-
How can I purchase tickets for the Jefferson Theater?
-
Advance tickets can be purchased online through Ticketmaster.com.
Tickets can be purchased in person from the Jefferson box office. The box office will be open 2 hours before any performance and during regular box office hours every Thursday and Friday from 10:00am - 2:00pm. The box office accepts Visa, Master Card, American Express and Discover. There is a $1-$2 box office fee for every ticket sold, depending on ticket price and venue.
Tickets are also available at the box office of our sister venue, The Southern Cafe & Music Hall. That box office accepts Visa, Master Card, American Express and Discover.
-
What is your refund or cancellation policy?
-
All ticket sales are final. No refunds or exchanges unless a show is canceled. In the event of bad weather, the show will go on as long as the artist is at the venue and able to perform. In the event that a show has to be canceled for any reason, we will update the website to indicate whether the show will be rescheduled or whether refunds will be issued. If you purchased your tickets through Ticketmaster, you will be notified automatically.

Does the Jefferson Theater have seats?
-
Why do my General Admission tickets have a Row and Seat number?
-
When looking at General Admission ticket details, you may notice row and seat numbers. However, these are for tracking inventory only and don’t reflect any actual seating location.
-
How old do you have to be to attend shows at the Jefferson Theater?
-
Unless otherwise posted the Jefferson is all ages. We do suggest a guardian accompany any patrons under the age of 14.
Children 3 and under are not required to have a ticket to Jefferson Theater shows as long as their parents have a general admission ticket. If the parents have a reserved seat ticket, then all accompanying children must also have their own ticketed seat.
We strongly encourage close supervision and ear protection for our youngest show attendees.
-
Do I need ID to enter the venue?
-
IDs are currently required as part of our COVID-19 vaccination/test policy. A state issued ID is also required if you plan on drinking alcohol. Because we are an all-ages venue we take checking ID’s very seriously. In compliance with Virginia laws anyone 21 and older who plans on drinking alcohol will have to show a valid, non-expired, government issued photo ID, no matter how old you think you may look. Anyone without proper ID, regardless of age, will be treated as under 21 and not allowed to buy, hold or drink alcohol. This policy is strictly enforced and any violation will result in immediate ejection from the venue. If a show is 18+ every patron will need to show identification. 18+ shows will be listed on our website, social media, & venue entrances. We reserve the right to refuse entry for any patron, at any time for any reason.
-
Can you scan tickets from a phone?
-
Yep! We are happy to scan tickets from your phone. No printer? No problem.
-

-
What time does the band go on?
-
The time listed on your ticket and on the website is the door time, not the show time. Normally, the first set will begin one hour after door times. Set times vary and typically are not announced until the day of the show. Please keep in mind that set times, as well as opening acts, are always subject to change without notice.

We encourage our patrons that choose to consume alcohol to do so responsibly and plan for a safe ride home. All local, state, and federal laws are strictly enforced. Anyone violating any laws, including: public intoxication, using illegal drugs, or underage drinking, will be ejected immediately with no appeal and no refund. Similarly, anyone caught providing alcohol to a minor will be ejected with no appeal/refund along with the minor in question. The Jefferson reserves the right to refuse service to anyone that appears overly intoxicated.

-
HEALTH & SAFETY RULES
The Jefferson Theater is no longer requiring attendees to provide proof of vaccination or negative test for entry to the venue. Masking is at the patron's discretion but is not required. Location & Parking

Yes, the Downtown Mall is a major destination for the Bus Service including the “Free Trolley” service. Keep in mind that the busses run till 11:45. For more information, click here.
-
I’m driving, how do I get to the Jefferson Theater?
-
The easiest way is to use Google maps or Mapquest and enter our address of 110 East Main Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902. This will get you close but we are on a pedestrian only mall so you will need to park close by and finish your trek on foot. In any case, once you get to downtown Charlottesville, the pedestrian mall has plenty of signs to direct you to us and other attractions.
-
What about parking?
-
Where should we park? The Jefferson is located right in Downtown Charlottesville and we do not have any on site parking. We strongly recommend that our patrons park in the Water Street Parking Garage (100 and 200 blocks of East Water Street) which is a very short walk to the theater. Always be aware of the time that the garage closes though. If you tally around after the show, you may find your car is locked up.
